Following a two hiatus, The Leadership Academy is ready to back School! The Leadership Academy is a nine-month program designed to educate emerging leaders who are interested in learning the many issues that impact our community and prepare them for positions of public influence and decision making.Click to view full details and application

Through this Program, individuals who may or may not already be involved, will gain a greater understanding of their community. Each month, topics of discussion will pertain to Government, Criminal Justice, Healthcare, to name a few.

Through these sessions, participants will be introduced to current leaders providing the ability to form a support network for the future.

Sessions and Curriculum Covered

LEADERSHIP & ETHICS
Leadership principles will be discussed followed by a stimulating discussion on professional ethics within an organization.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Presentations by key officials and an exploration of the various issues and departments with local government.

HERITAGE OF YOUR COMMUNITY
Following a presentation of the history and development of the community, a tour will follow, focusing on areas of interest which helped create the identity of the community.

HEALTH ISSUES IN & AROUND YOUR COMMUNITY
Introduction of health care issues on a local, state and federal level. Presented by leaders in the health care industry.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Key officials in the community present topics including, but not limited to, current and future economic development, the planning and zoning process and economic leadership.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Introduction of the community criminal justice process and the issues a growing community is challenged with on a local and county level.

EDUCATION
Introduction to education in the community. A discussion of the issues and challenges the community faces presented by key leaders.

WORKING WITH THE MEDIA
Presentations by local media leaders and an exploration of how to work effectively with the media to achieve organizational objectives.

COMMUNITY SERVICE IN & AROUND YOUR COMMUNITY
An introduction to the various organizations which add to the quality of life in the community. Conversations with leaders in these organizations will provide an overview of the challenges they face.
